Let’s start!
I’m starting a blog. Yay! I am excited, and you?
Not really, you’re saying?
Well, you shouldn’t be at this point. Let me tell you more.
What is it all about?
Interested in productivity, the entertainment industry, or leadership? Or crazy stories and valuable life lessons?
If the answer is yes, keep reading for more details.
CGI and interactive 3D art
It’s about 3D art from the perspective both of a 3D artist and an art producer. I’ll focus on more WHY instead of HOW. I’ll tell you about things that are more time-consuming than affecting the end result. How to illuminate them as much as possible and focus on important things.
Game development
It’s about game development and related interactive CGI things.
I’ll share my best practices and the most useful lessons I’ve learned in past years.
You’ll not have to make the same mistakes I did. In theory. In practice, this approach doesn’t work as expected. You’ll probably find this blog only after getting some issues and looking for a solution. But if it helps to prevent some new in the future – I’m happy to help! 🙂
You’ll find here materials about Unreal Engine as well as fundamentals about 3D environment art, level design, and game design.
Productivity
How to make more by doing less?
How to stop always being busy and find extra time?
How to plan things in an easy and understandable way?
How to track progress?
How to build new habits and actually stick to them?
Well. These are timeless questions. You could read about productivity in dozens of themed blogs, websites, and apps.
But there’s a catch. Even if you clearly understand WHAT to do, it’s so hard to do exactly like that from the point you really are now. Like bodybuilding – you understand that you need to eat healthy and lift weights. But it’s unclear and/or so hard to start and see any progress. You have to start small and step-by-step build yourself up to a certain point.
After a few years of experimenting with different approaches to personal productivity, I found both usable and not
It will be useful both for life and professional use. Especially for managers – “You cannot manage a team until you cannot manage yourself”.
Creative online solopreneurship
It’s about online businesses for creatives. I’m working on establishing a few projects and want to share this journey from (almost) day one. Until it either turned out into something cool or completely fails.
I searched online and didn’t find any publically available and structural source of information I can follow by myself. So, if you didn’t found what you’ve been looking for – make it by yourself! 🙂
By the day of this post, I have 3 projects in the technical stage, which will be announced later this year. If you’re doing something similar – I am more than welcome to welcome you to join backstage!
Personal life experience
It’s about my personal life experience as a 32-year-old adult male. There is a decent amount of things I wish someone told and explained to me when I was 10-15 years younger.
We all struggle with different fears and insecurities. I do too. You never know what triggers the chain of changes in your life. It’s awesome to get a motivational story as an example, but sometimes life forces you to change. Having someone who could share their approach to dealing with things you are stuck with right now might be a savior.
So as you see it’s gonna be a mix of professional and personal information. No kitties or children photos – more a personal experience of how I do things personally plus the best teamwork experiences. And results – both good and bad ones.
I’ll use simple language in the personal posts to make them more available for non-English audiences. But I will keep professional terminology and slang describing the professional experience.
A few words about me
“Who the hell are you?” you might ask. I would definitely think like that about a random guy from the internet.
My name is Andrey, nice to e-meet you! I make interactive things and help others create theirs.
I started my path in web design in my late school years, but at that good time CSS didn’t ever exist.
Then I work on sound design for TV shows and helped musicians make the best of their recordings.
Also, spend a few years working with LED screens and projectors making fancy shows.
Occasionally I step into the game development path as a 3D artist. I followed that path until a became a game producer and released many projects.
During this journey, I was always looking for the best and optimal ways to do my personal work. It also applied to those I helped with.
I always loved the master-apprentice style of learning, or mentorship as it is called nowadays. So I learned and taught this way and believe it’s the best way to become a master in any craftsmanship.
But, despite all its positive sides, it has one big disadvantage – it’s not scalable well enough. “The best way to learn something new is to teach it” – you heard already. By doing less practical work you can get more understanding of the process.
I have never seen myself as an expert, it was sound so selfish. Or a blogger, jeez! (just imagined my mom hearing that her son is a “blogger” now). Now I finally have some valuable experience to share in public. Bad experiences are also worth mentioning.
So it will be another experiment and a new experience for me.
What’s next?
Well, I’ll be writing every week about something I find useful to share. Or two times, if there will be something more to say.
Sometimes I will point you to other resources and blogs I found useful. I can even sell things to you with limited offers and discounts.
I’ll post announcements of my projects and products. After that – some articles will be published on those websites, and not on my personal.
I can notify you, my dear unknown friend, via email. So, if you’re interested in any of these things – subscribe to my newsletter. You’ll get notified about updates as soon as I post them and will not miss valuable information.
